The pulse of the game changed entirely after a 3-pointer by North Carolina's Donald Williams, a missed shot by Michigan's Jalen Rose, and then Derrick Phelps' lay-up putting the Tar Heels in the lead. Shocked and confused by the turnaround and the noise of the screaming crowd, Michigan's Webber attempts to call a time out in the remaining 11 seconds of the game. However, Michigan had no time outs left, resulting in a technical foul. Donald Williams, named Most Outstanding Player, makes both shots for the Tar Heels from the line and Carolina also gains possession.
